Berlinde de Bruyckere

The blanket acts not only a covering or a protection, but has become almost like a second skin, not only as a result of its constriction, but also because of its colour: it restricts the freedom of the body. The bodies are even distorted: arms, eyes or toes are left out, there are holes in the legs. This is De Bruyckere's view of humans: an erosion of humanness.
The figures in her drawing look detached and abstract like they are dissolving.
